Badakhshan province is one of the provinces of Afghanistan. Badakhshan is located in the northeast of Afghanistan. Badakhshan is 1800 meters above sea level and its center is Faiz Abad city. This province is located 470 kilometers from Kabul. Badakhshan is a historic region of north-eastern Afghanistan, roughly encompassing the northern spurs of the Hindu Kush and chiefly drained by the Kowkcheh River. Mountain glaciers and glacial lakes are found in the higher elevations of the region. Badakhshan has high mountains and raging rivers. The highest peak of the Hindu Kush mountains in Afghanistan is called "Naw Shakh" in this province. The Pamir Plateau, which is known as the roof of the world, is located in this province. Its lakes are named Shiva, Sarghilan Zarqal, and Chaqamqin.

Wakhan
Wakhan National Park encompasses soaring mountains, alpine grasslands, and unique wildlife in the northeastern part of Afghanistan, where it will preserve the traditional ways of life practiced by communities inside its borders. Wakhan National Park includes the entire Wakhan District, home to about 15,000 people, most of them ethnic Wakhi or Kyrgyz. Naw Shakh
Naw Shakh is the fourth-highest mountain in the Hindu Kush Mountains and the highest in Afghanistan. Naw Shakh is the second-highest peak in the Hindu Kush Range after Tirich Mir at 7,492 m (24,580 ft.). It lies on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The north and west sides of the mountain are in Afghanistan whereas the south and eastern sides are in Pakistan. It is the westernmost 7,000 m (22,966 ft.) peak in the world. The easiest access to Naw Shakh is from Wakhan Afghanistan.
Shewa Lake
Lake Shewa is located in the Sheghnan Valley of Badakhshan province. The lake is formed through the Arkhet River; the lake spreads in 12-kilo meters in length and its wide spread from 1600 to 2000 in different sections of the lake.
Chaqmaqtin Lake
Chamartin Lake is a lake in the Wakhan region of Afghanistan. It lies at an elevation of about 4,024 m in the Little Pamir. It extends for about 9 km and is about 2 km wide.
